Cinema Salem is about more than movies. We also are a place where local visual artists can share their work.

Our inaugural exhibition comes from artist/illustrator Lee Wolf. Anyone who frequents Salem's Lobster Shanty will know Lee spends a lot of time there, possibly because his wife, Diane, owns the place. Like most of us during the COVID shutdown. Lee missed seeing familiar faces. This exhibit shares his marvelous response to all that absence.

If I Can't See Your Faces, I Will Draw Them

If I Can’t See Your Faces, I Will Draw Them came about because of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on a local level, specifically in our Salem community. It is the culmination of about a year of sketches and consists of over 80 local faces. These drawings were posted to Facebook every day or so starting in April 2020.

Lee Wolf is a freelance illustrator whose work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, The LA Times, and The Nation
