As I’m sure most of you are aware, there’s going to be a sequel to the fairly successful Man of Steel, this time pitting Superman against Batman. Back when news first broke, Warner Bros. made waves by announcing that Ben Affleck had been cast as Batman which, apparently, a lot of people weren’t happy about. If that’s the last you’ve heard about this movie, you’ve missed quite a bit, so I figured I would take this chance to fill you in.

Release date:

Originally slated for summer 2015, the date has recently been changed to May 6, 2016. Interestingly, that date had already been claimed by Disney/Marvel for an upcoming flick, most likely Dr. Strange/Black Panther/Captain America 3/Thor 3. If Disney doesn’t back off, we’ll have our first head-to-head comic movie battle, which should be fun. More interestingly, however, is the reasoning behind the date change. Hopefully it’s to allow more time for production and some script work, which brings us to…

Chris Terrio:
Recognize the name Chris Terrio? He just won an Oscar for his screenplay for Argo. Ben Affleck recently brought him in to do some touch ups on the Bats vs. Supes script. If we’re lucky, the delay is because Terrio has decided to do some actual re-writes rather than just touch ups. I knew bringing Affleck onto this flick was a good idea.

New additions to the cast:
In addition to the returning stars from Man of Steel – Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane, as well as the aformentioned Ben Affleck as Batman, a bunch of new cast members have been announced, so let’s break that down.

Wonder Woman – Gal Gadot, most well known for her role as Gisele in the last few Fast & Furious films was announced as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman.

Lex Luthor – Jesse Eisenberg, most well known for his role as Mark Zuckerberg in David Fincher’s The Social Network was just announced in the role of Superman arch-enemy Lex Luthor.

Alfred – Batman’s butler/accomplice, played to perfection by Michael Caine in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy will be played by Oscar winner Jeremy Irons this time around.

Well, that about does it. So, with all of this new information popping up about the movie, are you more excited than before? Less? Still don’t care at all? Let us know!
