The Expendables has turned out to be the little franchise that could. Starting out as a small budget 80’s action movie throwback, bringing together the big name action stars of old with the newer, more contemporary action movie regulars, the first movie ended up being a massive hit, spawning 2 sequels, the most recent of which hits theaters this summer, and if the new full-length trailer is any indication, this one will be the biggest and most epic of the three. How do you out-do movies that have featured Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Randy Couture, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Mickey Rourke, and Steve Austin? Check out the trailer below to find out.

Well, you add Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford, MMA champion and Olympic medalist Ronda Rousey, Kellan Lutz, and Kelsey Grammer. New to the franchise director Patrick Hughes (director of the criminally underseen Red Hill) definitely seems to bring a slick and polished style, with much bigger action. With The Expendables 4 already in the works with rumored cast additions including Pierce Brosnan, Jackie Chan, and Hulk Hogan, as well as an all-female spin-off, titled The Expendabelles (reportedly led by Milla Jovovich) also on the way, this franchise doesn’t seem to be letting up any time soon. Now if only Kurt Russel and Steven Seagal would get off their high horses and join in on the fun.

Will you be checking out The Expendables 3 when it hits theaters in August? I know I’ll be there opening day.
