With the third installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy gearing up to start filming this summer, we’ve had an onslaught of news about the production, from casting news (Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt joining the already impressive returning cast of the last 2 films), to word on who the villains will be (Catwoman and Bane). The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette broke the story that The Dark Knight Rises will be shooting in Pittsburgh for 4-6 weeks, which could end up being a pretty big deal. Both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were shot in Chicago and Chicago’s architecture and distinct look have helped create the look of Gotham City we’ve all come to know in these films. Making such a big location change for the final film of a trilogy seems like a pretty crazy idea, so let’s hope Christopher Nolan and his Batman team can pull it off.
