Lions Gate has stepped up its marketing campaign for the 2012 release of its Hunger Games adaptation. Based on the first book in the popular young adult trilogy by Suzanne Collins, die-hard fans are already aflutter, rallying behind or denouncing casting choices.  This week’s EW features a shot of the series’ two leading men, Peeta and Gale–Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right) and Liam Hemsworth (Knowing) respectively.

Having read the books, director and screenwriter Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, Pleasantville) has his work cut out for him. I, for one, am wondering how to make these films as impactful as the novels while avoiding an R rating. Any other Hunger Games fans out there? How do people like the casting choices so far?
