Yes, I know–Oscar season is coming up, and it’s time to buckle down and get serious after our summer of action heroes and fantasy flicks.  But before we transition, let us look back and acknowledge the films that have entertained us the past few months, no?  Entertainment Weekly produced a list of 50 ‘awards’ with categories ranging from the wacky (‘The Christopher Nolan Memorial Award for Special Achievement  in Maintaining a consistent Mood of Apocalyptic Depression’, for instance–which, not surprisingly, goes to ‘Seeking a Friend for the End of the World’) to the thoughtful (‘Best Heroine’ went to the six-year-old star of ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’).  Some of my other favorite categories include: “Worst Non-Ending” (The Bourne Legacy); “Grossest Hair” (Alec Baldwin in ‘Rock of Ages’); “Best Trailer” (Man of Steel); and “Single Best Line of the Summer” (“I’m always angry”, spoken by Marc Ruffalo as The Hulk in ‘The Avengers’).  Check out the rest of the list here and have fun reliving the crazy movie ride that was the summer of 2012!
