We are wiping the slate clean and opening 4 films at CinemaSalem. That means Thursday will be your last chance to see The Martian, Crimson Peak, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, and The History of Halloween. We will be opening Spectre, The Peanuts Movie, Bridge of Spies, and The Assassin.

The latest in the James Bond franchise, Spectre, premiere will be this Thursday at 7:40pm. Box Office Mojo has reported that, “The latest James Bond film released in six territories so far where it has taken in $80.4 million, which includes record-breaking numbers in the UK where it opened to an estimated £41.7 million ($63.8 million USD) in its first seven days of release. Spectre took the highest seven day gross record in UK box office history from the last James Bond film, Skyfall.” Sam Mendes is back in the directors chair with Daniel Craig reprising his role. We have Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, and Ralph Fiennes reprising their roles while we get introduced to a few new faces to the franchise such as Monica Bellucci, Dave Bautista, Lea Seydoux, and Christoph Waltz. Check out the final trailer below.

The Peanuts Movie (2D/3D) is coming in with strong ratings on Rotten Tomatoes we are excited to see how our childhood gets brought to life on the big screen. Let’s all take a second to thank Charles M Shulz for bringing Snoopy into our lives. One of my favorite aspects about the Peanuts franchise is that they use child actors for the rolls which isn’t as common as you think it would be. You can check out the cast and crew on their IMDB page. I don’t know if you are like me, but I was sold on this before I even knew what it was about. If you fall into this category with me here is the synopsis from 20th Century Fox, “Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the beloved “Peanuts” gang make their big-screen debut, like they’ve never been seen before, in state of the art 3D animation. Charlie Brown, the world’s most beloved underdog, embarks upon an epic and heroic quest, while his best pal, the lovable beagle Snoopy, takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron. From the imagination of Charles M. Schulz and the creators of the ICE AGE films, THE PEANUTS MOVIE will prove that every underdog has his day.

We are bringing in Bridge of Spies a few weeks late and it will only be here for two weeks. Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks, Alan Alda, Billy Mangussen, Domenick Lombardozzi, and Amy Ryan.  FUN FACT! This will be the fourth time Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks have worked together. We follow an American attorney who has to negotiate the release of a U-2 spy plane pilot who was shot down over Russia during the Cold War.

In the Screening Room we will be showing The Assassin which is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. We follow a female assassin who is given the task of taking out a nobleman who just so happens to be her ex-fiance. This is directed by Hsiao-Hsien Hou and I’m convinced he only knows how to make great films.

Tickets are available for all films mentioned above.
